New Employee Orientation

New Employee Orientation (NEO) is an essential part of our onboarding process that provides an opportunity to reinforce UMMC's values, mission, and vision while emphasizing professional behaviors, appearance guidelines, and other expectations.

If your hire date is a Monday:

  • You will attend NEO on the same Monday as your hire date.
  • Exception: If Monday is a holiday, NEO will be held on Tuesday, and you will attend then.

Tuesday through Friday Hire Dates:

  • You will attend NEO on the following Monday.
  • Exception: If your hire date is Tuesday and Monday is a holiday (e.g., Memorial Day, Labor Day), you will attend NEO on Tuesday, the day of your hire.

ID Badges: Employees attending NEO on their first day will receive their ID badges in the Classroom Wing. Otherwise, you will pick them up at the HR Service Center.

If your hire date is Tuesday-Friday, you will check in at the Human Resources (HR) Service Center, where you will receive an ID badge, system login instructions, and your first-day checklist. The check-in process is quick, allowing new employees to report to your department or unit afterward.

Then you will attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) on the Monday following your start date and complete your HealthStream assignments within the first two weeks of your start date.

Staff In-Processing is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the HR Service Center.

Parking

New Employees at the Jackson, MS, Main Campus location park in the free "Veteran's Memorial Stadium Parking" just across the street from the UMMC main campus, unless instructed otherwise. Free and convenient shuttle service is available to and from the stadium parking lots to assist you with reaching your destination. On-campus parking is only available by prior authorization.  Parking tickets are issued by UMMC campus police for parking in unauthorized areas.
